Dear Readers,
I wanted to tell you about a book I'm reading for school. It's called The Holiness of God by R.C. Sproul it's an awesome book. I only read (as schedueled) 1 chapter every Thursday. (forgot to do it yesterday so I did it this morning) I wish I could read ahead, because it is so delicious! R. C. Sproul explains to us that to have a right understanding of God the Father, we must have a right understanding of His holiness. It effects the way we think about God, it effects our Christian faith! I know I do not have a right understanding of God's holiness. It's a foriegn concept. Well, not entirely foriegn. But, my understanding of God's holiness is of a little child's understanding.
I understand that God is so holy He can have NOTHING to do with sin, I understand that the angels bow before Him singing "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty". I understand that out of all God's attributes He is HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, not "LOVE, LOVE, LOVE", not "JUST, JUST, JUST,". Holiness is the barrier between us, and God. We are depraved. Yes, we are made in His image; but we are not "Holy, holy, holy". Some people say the difference between us and God is that, "God loves better than we do. God's love is pure, without fault. He doesn't love selfishly as we do." Which, is true, but that's not the difference between man and God. (Well, besides the fact that He's God and we ARE NOT. But, I mean the difference in man's character. Yes, holiness falls into the category of "WE'RE DEPRAVED AND HE'S HOLY, HOLY, HOLY LORD GOD ALMIGHT"!)
I know that much. But, I want a deeper understanding of God's holiness. The more I think about it the more it is of a mystery to me. Of course God is inconprehensible so I'm only ever going to be able to understand Him as far as my human brain can, but that doesn't stop my craving to want to know more about my Creator. It never stopped Adam and Eve, who knew God probably better than everyone except God Himself! God walked in the garden of Eden with Adam!
Anways, it's called the Holiness of God. You can purchase it HERE @ Ligonier ministries..
Just wanted to give the link for anyone interested =)

1-Post-a-Day #1
Hello Readers,
A blogger friend had an awesome idea of doing 1 post a day through the month of September. That's what I'm going to do! I'm going to do "A-Post-A-Day" series all through the month! Except I'll call it 1-Post-a-Day. For today's 1-Post-a-Day, I'll be quoting Jonah(5), and Jamesyn(3).
I took had to take an alcheseltzer, and you know they have to dissolve. Jamesyn, however was a bit confused...
Jami: Aren't you going to drink your medicine Ate?
Me: Yeah, Jami. I am waiting for it to dissolve.
Jami: You're waiting for it to disdaine Ate?
Me: What?
Jami: Are you waiting for it to disdaine Ate?
Me: Um...yeah.
Jami: Has it disdained yet Ate?
Jonah and my Mom have been going through Genisis. Yesterday they read the part about how God created Eve.
Ma (reading from the story Bible): God caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep. While he was asleep God took out one of his ris, and closed up the place from which He had taken it. God made that rib into a beautiful, sweet woman.
Jonah: And did Adam LOVE that rib?
Ma (cracking up): No, he loved his woman.
Jonah: Giggles
Today when Ma and Jonah were doing Catechism, well...read for yourself...
Ma: Can God do all things? (the answer is suppose to be: Yes-God can do all His holy will.)
Jonah: Yes, God can do all His holy Spirit. (starts laughing) Hahah OOPS. I mean God can do all His holy will!
You know how when you see the pictures of an Ultrah sound, and it's a black background and the baby looks white? Well, apparently this is a conversation between my Mom and Jonah..
Ma: Who do you think your brother (talking about Josiah Calvin obviously) will look like? You, Jake, or Daddy?
Jonah: Well..I think our baby is going to be white.
Ma: Cracking up.
LOL. Our family has special nick names for everyone. Sometimes, more than 1 nick name, sometimes we have specifics that we always call each other. Whenever Jonah says something funny we call him "Jonah the wise". Everyone goes "Ahh, another quote from Jonah the wise!" I call him my "Deep theological thinker" because he comes up with the most amazing questions about God and his faith for a five year old!!
Cheers to a new month, and to FALL!,

P.S. Fall is my FAVORITE season of all time!! It's beautiful! I love the crisp air, the colorful leaves, the cozy days inside, hot chocolate, apple cider, the beginning of the holidays...AHH I love it all!! I love reading with a cup of tea and a blanket wrapped around me. Ahh. So, CHEERS!!

Tagalog lesson
I TOTALLY SPACED! I don't know how often I've used the word "Ate' " in my blog posts.. but I've neglected to say what it means. I'm sorry!! I just realized this looking at the pictures on the side of my blog there's one with me and Jess and the caption or whatever says "She loves her Ate' ".
Ate is the Tagalog word for "Older sister" or "Big Sister", if you will. My Dad is half Filipino. (um..if I'm being repetious...I'm sorry. I don't mean to be.) and so that makes us a quarter. It's a sign of respect when the younger siblings call the older (it's usually to the eldest sister/brother) siblings by their "rank" I guess you can put it that way. But..that sounds weird. Anyways, Ate is the word for older sister and Kuya is used for the older brother.
Now whenever you see me mention "Ate" you know what it means!! (Or Kuya for that matter..)
Kuya: pronounced KOO-YAW
Ate: pronounced OUGHT-TAY*
(like "you know you ought not to do that")
Cheers!,

Who's yo' bff!!?
I love my Babies.( Um..I refer to my younger siblings as "my babies" just so you don't get the wrong idea...) They are awesome. You know when your parents say your siblings should be your best friends? Well they're right. Or, partially right. Christ is your first best friend, then your parents and siblings.
I remember sharing a room in this small two bedroom apartment in California called 'Quail Run". Those were good times. So many memories in that small apartment. I lived in that apartment for like 5-6 years maybe? It was just me, my parents, and Julienne and Jacob at the time. My Mom and Dad had the master bedroom, and Jules and I shared the other small room. But, when they had Jake they moved to the smaller room when he was old enough to sleep in a big boy bed. Then it was Jules, Jake, and I in the master's bedroom. We shared a room for the longest of time. I think we moved out of that apartment when I was like 10. Point being, when you share a room w/siblings you build bonds. I think sharing a room is one of the ways you become best friends with your siblings. (Mind you I only said 1 of the ways. )
There was a period of time where it was just Jacob and Jules who shared a room (when we moved..) together and I had my own. I loved sharing a room. But, you do miss having the company at night. The soft, steady breathing of your sibling who you just got done talking with for hours when you were suppose to be asleep. I remember when we had Jonah, Jonah and Jake shared while Jules and I shared. Jonah and Jacob to this day share a room. Jules and I have our own room now, as does Jami. The plan is when Jessi can sleep in a regular bed, she'll move in with Jami.
The plans changed. Jess and I have a pretty strong bond. She can communicate most anything to me and I can almost always understand what she is trying to tell me. It's pretty cool. Jess is going to share a room with me when she can sleep in a big girl bed. I can hardly wait!!! I think because I'm older, and have already taken care of Jonah and Jami when they were little ones I can appreciate to a fuller extent the bond between me and the big girl who once used to be a tiny little baby. I don't think I've ever enjoyed the form of communication, the fun little games to keep that toddler pre-occupied as much as I have with Jess. I think it's because now that I'm older and someday wish to be a mother, I appreciate the relationship more. I don't know why. Maybe when you're younger you're naive and just tend to take things for granted unconsciously? I don't really know what it is.
I'm glad that she'll be moving in! Totally excited!! I think it'll be good for me since it's easy to be selfish when you have your own room. You know the whole "This is my room, my stuff, go out please" and sometimes not always "please".
But I'm so excited to have a baby brother!! I haven't held a tiny new born in a while. Well, I have a cousin who's a new born. But, he doesn't count because he isn't my sibling-ya know?
Today Jess was really fussy in church, and during the potluck. She is not a morning person. (Kind of like someone else I know *winks*) She hates that she has to get up early and not sleep in. (Hahaha..I can empathize...) She is still little, and therefore needs her afternoon nap. She doesn't like to eat on a big girl chair, but in her high chair. So she didn't eat much at the potluck either and she refuses to be fed! Probably because she considers herself a big girl now? Ha! Not yet baby!! You're still my littttttlle darling!! (Well, she always will be but, you know she won't always fit in my lap :( ) So after three crying fits (yes they are different from temper fits..) and an Ate who had a headache and felt rather like what a pregnant mother feels when it's hot out and she says "I HAVE AN OVEN IN ME!" Jess was ready for her nap when we got home!! (i.e. Jess was the oven ON me..esp. when she was crying they use such energy when they cry, because it isn't the soft silent crying. It's the balling like a baby crying...and their whole body heats up..and my temperature when from cool to 400 like our oven when baking!! AHH.)
So that's there's the training to be a mummy lesson for the day-what to do with a fussy baby who just wants to cry...? It was a good day though. And Jess is tough. She hung in there. Ahh. I love her. I might as well tell you she likes the men, because she considers them all "Daddy's" and so she likes to go up to all the men in the room that look "Fatherly" to a one year old (lol), and pat them and lay her head on them, and smile and giggle etc. It's really cute actually.
Cheers!!,
